We are pleased to announce that the winners of Celgene’s 2015 Innovation Impact awards are: Cancer Support Community, Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE) and the International Foundation for Autoimmune Arthritis.
Cancer Support Community’s Patients 1st: A Model Program to Optimize the Patient Experience in a Cancer Clinical Trial is a new idea designed to prove that the integration of education, decision support and distress screening, referral and follow-up will improve the desirability of a clinical trial and reduce psychosocial barriers that could interrupt patient participation and overall satisfaction.
Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered’s IMplementing a Patient-centered Approach to Clinical Trials (IMPACT) will draw upon the organization’s ABOUT Patient-Powered Research Network and engage in a pilot program that seeks to improve clinical trial participation for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer by identifying patients’ information needs around clinical trials and developing patient-friendly education and clinical trial matching materials.
International Foundation for Autoimmune Arthritis’ Autoimmune Community Team (ACT): Redefining Researchis designed to gather a global pool of patients, industry and researchers to initiate discussions early in the drug discovery environment so that research ideas and dollars spent will better reflect the patient’s needs. The program enables patients who are usually unable to participate in research discussions, due to disease limitations and/or the inability to travel, to contribute through a flexible, virtual platform.
